What is the Expected Network Utilization from the Front Servers?

Following deployment of NetBrain, a NetBrain Administrator is typically asked the question, "What kind of load is the NetBrain system applying to the Network?"

This article describes the expected Network Utilization of the Front Server component during a Full (re)Discovery and Benchmark Task.

    Solution

The NetBrain Research and Development team has provided the following details from the results of their internal performance testing of NetBrain Integrated Edition 8.0x releases to assist a NetBrain Administrator with this question.

The following table describes the utilization of a single Front Server instance, with default configuration, applying load to a large network of devices.  This data was generated across multiple executions of both Discovery and Benchmark operations.

    MinimumAverageMaximum
    Incoming51.66 Kbps87.58 Kbps1.07 Mbps
    Outgoing3.93 Kbps222.62 Kbps2.13 Mbps

Inbound: Device Data Retrieval (Retrieval of CLI / API commands, login responses, etc)

Outbound: Device CLI / API Commands

NetBrain Tip: These statistics do not include additional transactions that may take place during a benchmark activity like updating device data from an integrated 3rd Party System like SolarWinds, ServiceNow, etc.
